Computer keeps rebooting without warning

  Bob 17:36 08 Feb 2003

My student daughter at college about 350 miles away had a new Mesh Matrix XP 2400 at Christmas. Windows XP, Norton Antivirus, Nero burning and Microsoft Works Suit 2003. Also attached is an Epson C62 printer and an HP 5470C scanner.
The problem is that the system initially was randomly rebooting, but has now reached the point that it reboots even befor it has fully started. The only way to get it to fully start is in safe mode. She has tried system restore be this has not helped. Mesh tried but could not help over the phone, and are sending someone out in the next week or so!!!!! Please help

This one can be added to the very long list of systems that do this.

I suggest you send your daughter an e-mail with this web page address www. and get her to print the document and give it to the Mesh engineer when he turns up.

There has been a thread with the title "does your XP keep restarting your computer" running for a couple of weeks now. It may be worth you taking a look through.

Also take a look at here and give thanks to Irishman for leading us to it.

Unfortunatly since Mesh dont suppy the Windows XP cd most of the repair and recovery features of XP are not available.

When it boots can she hit F8 and try the

Last Known Good Option?

In safe mode

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System

Go to Advanced

Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...

Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

It should then give an error message instead of rebooting can you tell us this message.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
