Computer doesn't start immediately

I have a Mesh computer which is about 7 years old. Just recently I have experienced a problem in that when I press the start button the computer doesn't always boot up. It starts to go and the green power light somes on for about a second, the computer sounds like it's starting then all start-up noises cease and the green light is flashing. After a few times of doing this and holding the button on for slightly longer it usually starts. What can be the problem?

The power supply is on it's way out. You could try opening the case, and clearing the dust from fans in the psu...You have nothing to lose as the machine is well out of warranty, and you'd be amazed at how much dust a pc can accumulate over the years. I clean mine once every 3 months.

I'll give that a try.
