Computer died (2)

My PC died yesterday. Everything fine then monitor displayed a series of coloured lines, completely filling the screen. Unable to call up task manager and reset button does not have the desired effect. Had to switch off by holding in startup button.
When start button now depressed, the lights come on and DVD drawers open and close. I can hear the fan but then nothing further. Screen displays " No Signal Input". The PC is less than 12 months old, fairly basic Athlon XP64 3000+, onboard sound and graphics, 160gb HD.
So guys, any ideas?

Sounds like either power supply or a farly major m/b problem. Sorry.

All kinds of possibilities. Unplug EVERYTHING from the motherboard except the power supply, processor with heatsink the case speaker and the power-on switch. See if you then get a POST beep.
