please help.

I have just bought some new bits for my pc,
amd athlon 64x2 dual core 4200+
1 gb of ram{not sure what type}
radeon 2600xt 512mb gddr3 graphics card
m2v asus main board running on windows xp pro version 2002 service pack 2.
When i instaled the graphics card drivers and catalyst control center the ati function driver for high definition audio would not install.
It comes up with this devise could not start because of a code 10 error,which meant i had no sound so i plugged my speakers in the motherboard to get sound.
i have since installed bioshock and medal of honor airborne assault the games run perfectly for about 2 mins then the monitor switches off saying no signal detected but i can still hear the game playing so i have to restart my pc.
Cuold someone please tell me what i am diong wrong,is my system parts not compatable or do i have to buy something extra e.g more memory or shall i set fire to
oh and i have installed all the latest drivers for the graphics card.

Graphics,you first need to remove the old graphics in safe Mode, It should then let you install the new.
