components from abroad

hello im looking at buying a new desktop and am wanting to upgrade to a 6800 gs pci-e graphics card or a x850 i noticed these are much cheaper abroad but was wondering if i could use one from abroad in my pc, i think it would be ok with the psu tranforming the power from mains to what ever is neede by my pc but just wanted to check if it was ok to install a graphics card from another country. cheers also which is better from gaming/dvd's 6800gs/ultra or x850xt?

but what about shipping charges and import taxes does it make it any cheaper

I should think it would be OK but if anything goes wrong you'll find the "common market" isn't as common as people are lead to believe and you might loss any savings you've made by trying to put things right.
