Hi I am running XP home. I have Norton Antivirus on but as yet nothing else. I want a firewall am I better off using Norton or which is a good other one that will run smoothly with XP's own firewall. Also why has my 'View your postings' been disabled?

Norton has come in for some stick lately.

Most of us on the Forum have AVG, Adaware, Spybot, Spywareblaster and Zonealarm.

All of which are free to download.

Adaware from click here

Spybot from click here

Spywareblaster from click here

and Zonealarm from click here

Don't even think of running more than one firewall - they will clash with each other.

Windows own firewall is adequate. However, be aware that it only stops incoming traffic but not outgoing.

"am I better off using Norton" - are you planning to buy a separate Norton firewall? Norton AV does not include a firewall.

There are several threads re 'My Postings'. Here's one click here

Have installed free Zone Alarm Firewall with 2004 and 2005 Norton AV on several computers without a problem.Had some conflicts with earlier Norton products particularly burning programmes from Sonic.
