I have a Compaq Presario 2500 (2504EU) and its running painfully slow. Its got quite a good spec, with 2.6 Celeron processor, 256 PC2100 Ram and Windows XP Home. I've done defrag, disk cleanup, adjusted IE settings to minimal, disabled unwanted background services, disabled unwanted startup items and even gone through step by step the troubleshooting guide from HP on-line. My train of thought is that its needs more ram, but even with a 2.6g processor it should go a bit. Opening and using any software takes a long time, and memory usage often hits 100% especially opening Word or Excel. The machine is only 6 months old, and its been back to HP/Compaq already with a new mobo, bios upgrade and even new touchpad. What are the bets? More ram or another call to HP to fix it?
