The USB port on my Compaq 1810 laptop is U/S.Is there anyway of accessing the files and also connecting on to the internet by any other means. OS is windows 98. When it was running it was very slow and I would be concerned at transfer the problems to my new PC

Does it have any PCMCIA slots,if so,connect a WiFi PCM card to it,and a PCI WiFi card in your desktop, add CCPROXY,and off you go with an "Ad-Hoc" Wireless LAN.
