combining hdd partitions

I have 2 partitions on the one hdd on my pc
1 is 127.99 gb healthy NTFS
2 is 170.10 gb unallocated

my ? is how do i jion the two together in disc managment to make one

You can not without losing all the data.

You will need an application like partition magic to do it.

If you only Have a Restore CD for your Computer, You are better leaving them as is. As you will make it as your Restore CD will not work. Its dependent on Files on another Partition and that Partition sizes remain the same as when you got the Computer. It may be a Hidden Partition

so ok then i leave it as 170gb partition then so how do i allocate it

if i click on unallocated partition it says new partition wizard it gives me two options
please select the partition you want to create
1 primary
2 extended

so do i set it to primary or exteneded

with new windows xp install on from original xp disc

Only set it to extended if you intend to create multiple partitions on it.

Other wise set it as a primary partition.
