Firstly please excuse my ignorance.

I have a device that I connect to my computers USB using a serial to usb connector lead.
The device has to use Com 3, the only other device connected to me laptop USB is my broadband modem.
My problem is that my device is not recognised because the com 3 is busy.
If I restart my computer it fees up the com3 but I do not want to do this every tim I need to use my device, please can someone help me to ensure that com 3 is always left free.
Thank you

Right click the Taskbar and select Task Manager to end task of the com3. You should not have to restart your system after doing this, just plug your device in.
