Colour Laser Memory

I'm looking at buying a colour laser printer. I know that such printers have internal memory which needs to be big enough to hold the entire page because the whole sheet is printed at once. However, how do I work out how much memory would be enough? The printer I'm looking at has 32Mb, but I don't know whether this will be enough or not or how I can work it out?!

what are you using it for?

To print pages (obviously!) that include photos and text - DTP type work mostly.

will it be networked. If not 32 mb should be fine. With most you can upgrade the ram simply at a later date. What is the max on the printer you are looking at?

I'm looking at Minolta Magicolor 2300 DeskLaser. Max is 228 Mb. Some of my documents can be quite large with several photos on a page...

should have said - no, it won't be networked, though it may be shared across my home network via Windows printer sharing.

then work on what your largest documents are....I tend to use 64 mb

A friend has suggested that any colour laser without postscript support isn't worth bothering with. What do people think?
