Cleaning out unwanted drivers in Device manager,Show hidden devices and came across one for CNG.

Anyone know if this is safe to delete.I have googled for it and it has came up with a few different things but one of them was for a CNG Trojan.

Just wondered if my security programs had found and deleted the trojan and this was the remnants or whether this is actually needed in W/7 premium or not.

So the question is delete or not delete or just leave it alone.

I think it is part of the OS. I Googled "CNG in device manager" and came up with a number of hits to this effect but think the How-To Geek item identifies it quite well.

Just to add I have Emisoft-Antimalware.Eset Internet Security. And HitmanPro installed as well.

Emisoft says it finds and removes any CNG trojans so all I can think of is it has been removed or is a genuine program.Just typing CNG into Google does not show a lot.

Well thanks to both of you for the quick reply that sort of solved that problem.

Looks like it will be staying put then.
