Hi all.

PC will not start because the follow error message is on screen:

F1 TO CONTINUE OR DELETE TO ENTER SETUP

CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR
WARNING: SYSTEM IS RUNNING IN SAFE MODE
PLEASE RE-SETTING CPU OR MEMORY RATIO/FREQUENCY IN CMOS SETUP.

I choose DELETE and I reset all defaults in CMOS SETUP.

The PC then restarts and all is OK.

After some hours, again the error returns on start-up and I have to repeat the above process all over again.

ANY IDEAS?

Regards..... Neil.

Sounds like a dead CMOS (motherboard) battery.

Thanks, I had no idea a battery like that was in the PC. I will check the manual to try and locate it.

Thanks...... Neil.
