Cloning My Hard Disk

  Hercules02 13:23 29 Apr 2009

Ive just bought a new hard drive because my old one is pretty full. I want to transfer everything onto the larger disk and then make this my bootable drive for XP Home.
Ive got Acronis True Image to do the job, but do I need to format/partition the new drive first, or can it take care of this? I need to be sure that I can use all of the new drive (500GB). The one Im cloning from is 80GB.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just open Acronis, choose to Clone and follow the on-screen prompts. I did the same not so long ago, pretty simple process. Acronis takes care of all that is needed. It does not take lone. Once completed all you need to do is remove old drive replace with new one. Booting up the new drive will be just as if nothing had ever changed.

Oops .... take lone should read ... take long!

PS - I am assuming the you have the new drive either as a Slave or in an Enclosure.
