Clipboard to Outlook

What is the best way to get an image from the clipboard directly into the message body in Outlook rather than as an attachment?

Is there any way to paste an image directly from the clipboard into Outlook?

I can only see the option to insert a file or clipart etc, and when I just select paste in Outlook I get a small smiley type icon.

Also what is the best way to get an image from the clipboard to a file apart from pasting into an application then cropping away the borders?

Right click in the body of the message, select Paste.

Thanks for that. It just worked for me, however it does not always work and I cannot figure out why!

When it worked a few minutes ago the "paste" in the edit menu also worked just the same. I shut down and restarted Outloook and tried again and it did not work, neither did the paste in the edit menu. I was back to inserting the small smiley type icon instead of the image.

Any ideas?
