My Wife's PC has a clicking noise coming from the HD. It runs for a while OK then the noise appears, then get the Blue Screen of Death!

I defragged the Disk and then ran error check, no faults were reported.

I'm inclined to think the drive is faulty!!!

Any suggestions please ?

Uh oh. Time to change the drive. Back up all your data ASAP.

Agree with above as it can still see files

If that sound is coming from the HD it can only mean one thing - the drive is failing. Time to backup & get a replacement. G

Its the Drive Controller that is failing, Electronics card fitted on the drive

If you can turn on S.M.A.R.T for the drive you should get a warning.Check BIOS for the Above to Enable it

Thanks folk.....I think a new HD is needed. She has a USB external HD which is used regularly to backup her files, so hopefully it might not take long to the PC running OK!!!

Put the new Drive in bottom of computer connect cables and then use XXCLONE to copy disc to disc then just swap them click here

Thanks for the info......if the programs work it will save a lot of hassle.

Any recommendations as to the most reliable replacement HD ?
