im having problems with my lap top and want to reinstal win2000 the prob is iv done this a few times before and all the past files folders etc are all still in the HD, in the past this has been a life saver but now there becomoing a pain.

my question is when i reinstal this time is there a way of completely cleaning EVERYTHING of the C\ drive as if it was a new computer?

As long as you are sure there is nothing you want to save or backup beforehand, then the easiest way to clean the C drive is to boot up from floppy and use the FORMAT C: command. Then install Windows2000.

(Make sure you have the FORMAT command on floppy first!)

Start the laptop in DOS. At the Prompt Type Format C: /s. It should look like this, C:\format c: /s . Do you have a Win2000 disk?? What about the drivers? If you do not have drivers, make a note of them before you format. That way you can look for the drivers on the net to download.
