I have an Athlon XP 2000+, 512MB Ram, NVIDIA 256 mb 6600 graphics, WINXP SP1.
Have played the demo and it was sluggish but the difference was at the time was using an FX5200 126MB. Below is the recommended specs for the gamel. with the new graphics card will the full game be ok or will it still be sluggish.

Min Spec
Windows 2000/XP
1.2GHz P4 or above
256MB RAM (Win 2000) 512MB RAM (XP)
1.7GB Hard Disk Space
64MB Video Card

Recommended Spec
Windows 2000/XP
1.8GHz P4 or above
512MB RAM
1.7GB Hard Disk Space
128MB Video Card

I presume its a standard 6600 you have and not a GT but looking at the specs it should play ok. Especially since you tried the demo with your old card and it ran.

When you are buying a game always look at the recommended not the minimum specs. Didn't realise that game needed so much memory though.

It ran but it was very sluggish. I have all previous copies of the game so was looking forward to this but bit apprehensive when I saw what was happening with the demo.
Yeah just bog standard 6600.

I played CIV4 on a PC which had an Athlon 2.1 and 512 Mb Ram and only 64Mb graphics and XP SP2. It ran ok but only after I downloaded the latest drivers for the graphics card. I also had to go into options and set it to run at the lowest graphics setting. Downloaded all the patches for the game (which is a must)and had several hours (possibly days) of fun.
New PC plenty of RAM and a reasonable graphics card and I now find what I was missing in graphics before. But the game was playable on the old PC but not as good.
