CHKDSK Results

If I run this check at boot up are the results saved anywhere where I can view them in XP and/or Vista.

A summary shows briefly at the end of the scan but not long enough to be meaningful.

I've just had a blue screen on my Vista laptop for the first time ever (whilst viewing Youtube) so thought I'd better run a check.

Event Viewer >> windows protocols >> application, item "wininit".
and scroll down

I'll take a look when the disc check completes.

In XP, open the Control Panel, double click on "Adminstrative Tools", double click on the "Event Viewer" icon, then click on "Application". In the "Source" column, look for the "Winlogon" item. Double click it and you should see the results of your Chkdsk. It will also give other events so you might have to click on a couple of them.
