chkdsk problem

  rawprawn 12:57 26 Dec 2007

After trying to help someone on this forum, I ran my own chkdsk to better understand his problem.
Unfortunately it all went belly up. I got the usual message Volume in use, scan on reboot. I rebooted and chkdsk ran as scheduled with no problems shown. As the computer then booted it didn't load properly and crashed. I tried again and it did a Start up Repair and booted up, but when I came to use it it crashed again.
It has taken me three different restore points and sfc to get it stable again. The problem is I have no idea as to why this happened, any ideas?

Sorry, Vista Home Premium.

Like me, nobody seems to have any ideas and the problem has not occurred again. I will mark as resolved.
