can someone tell me what a zapper is and how it works

Hi, from the heading of your posting I assume you want something to ZAP (or re-set) the chip in a printer cartridge???
If I am correct have a look at click here as they have something which does that.
They also supply excellent refill kits by Ink-Tec.

Many of the Classifieds in computer magazines will have a device for around a tenner which will reset the chip on the cartridge in a couple of seconds. The computer then behaves as if it were a new cartrige.

Obviously you must make it clear which make and cartridge you are using, before you buy.
