chkdsk /f It wil do so at next boot up
As per rawprawn, whilst pointing out that you need to note the space after sfc.You may also need your installation disk.

I've also learned something too Pamy. I never realised that chkdsk, in the form you express it, would do the same thing at startup.Abel
Most people tend to use the hard drive's Properties>Tools>Error checking route for ChkDsk.
