I can't believe I'm actually asking this but I cannot seem to be able to get into the BIOS on my new HP Compaq 6000 microtower. Its running W7 Pro and I want to enable Virtual XP.

Press F1 or F10 when the computer is just starting, it could also be F2 or F12, each PC is different, trial and error should lead you to the correct one.

My old Xp computer I had to press Delete as the computer started to get into the Bios.

Thanks Maj and buteman - I had tried all that but to no avail - hence the posting. All I can get is the HP setup utility which does not include the bios.....

It's usually F1 or F10 on that machine to enter bios

Just read the buisness blurb and it says F10

Does your keyboard have a function key lock that need engaging ?

  miner 16:36 11 Feb 2010

Rawprawn - thanks but F10 just brings up the 'setup utility'
I don't appear to have a function key lock on the HP keyboard.....

What options does the "set up" utility offer?

  miner 18:02 11 Feb 2010

bremner - the setup utility offers:
File - system info; time & date etc
Storage - device config;storage options; DPS Self Test/Boot order
Power - power managemet
Advanced - power on options; BIOS power;PCI devices; BIOS options;Device options; Management options.

The BIOS options are a selection of enable/disenable options only.

Those are your BIOS settings, miner.
