hey all

i wont do a marathon type instead see "does anyone know"

to the point then!

does anyone know where i could get detailed info on doing a hardware overclock on my g.card-not software app-hardware u know a bit of soulder here..take that off there..

the reason is a mormal radeon9000 has a 400mhz DDR speed and 250mhz GPU speed but mine..again see "does anyone know"

only has a 200mhz DDR speed but the GPU is fine the thing is though i can get my GPU upto 330mhz with NO instability and DDR speed upto 220mhz

well i'll stop guffing on now ;o)

Just add a message to this one to move it back to the top: click here

400MHz DDR memory actually runs off a 200MHz clock (DDR = DOUBLE data rate).

So when you say you have 200MHz speed - you may be looking at the clock rate, which will be 200MHz.

pesala the new thread was to double my chances!

i know all that just a simple case of from what the app im using tells me its 200mhz full-stop

so far to the best of my knowledge anyway nobody has overclocked a standard(non pro)radeon 9000 try the overclocking forum click here

Then the app is likely telling you the clock rate. Try some other apps.

That should do it!

Rivatuner overclocks at the 'hardware' level it says. Not sure what difference there is between that way of doing it and the software driver way, but having tried this utility it works:

click here (Choose Videocard utilities/overclocking and tweaking/RivaTuner 2.0 + SoftR9x00 + SoftFireGL Patches (the top one!)

Aren't I kind! That will mean you really wouldn't need to become a professor in micro-circuitry and electonical engineering and can put that soldering iron away...

(If you are already well aware of this tool I apologise for wasting your time.)

  hugh-265156 00:11 28 Mar 2003

i dont doubt the fact that it will overclock.what i have found and many others is that it resets the clocks after 10 mins or so really annoying!!im saving for a 9700.even if the clocks did not reset the improvement is minimal.
