Cheap PCs

  Templar1961 22:16 28 Jun 2004

I am trying to help someone buy a cheap PC. I could put one together, but is it worth it? The requirements are minimal - basic Internet/email and writing photos to CD etc.

I saw this on offer at PC World click here

Can anyone suggest a better deal?

I expect its probably cheaper to buy a basic system than self build nowadays?

It is cheaper to buy a basic system rather than build yourself now ,have a look at click here you can choose a system or configure your own.

got that one from jonnytub, excellent customer service and although they "officially" are a shop based business, they will package it up for a little extra.

Just had anOther look and noticed that its reconditioned, before I spent over £300+ on something I think I'd want to know exactly what was meant by reconditioned, for £50 or so more you could buy something brand new.

Thanks guys!

This looks a good deal - top name and nice software bundle too? click here

I agree the reconditioned offer at PC World is not a good recommendation! Definitely better to pay the extra £50 or so.

Any suggestions for a good price for 17 inch CRT?

The HP looks a good PC but the monitor is expensive at £129?

Depends on what you want from it but a basic one can be picked up for about £50 or so. "Flat" screen CRTs will cost a little more but are worth it to avoid any curvature on the screen.
