Changing IE6 default save locations

Can anyone tell me how to permanently change Inter Explorers V6 default save locations, in particular the location for pictures. A number of web sites suggest the registry setting "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer - Download Directory" is responsible, but this makes no difference for my system.

The full path is entered. Any suggestions as to why this isn't working?

Click [Start] [Run] [Regedit] and navigate to the following Key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]

In the right-pane, change the data for [Download Directory] to your existing download folder
[Enter full path, say E:\Internet\Downloads]

If the entry is not found, create a new String Value [called as REG_SZ] named Download Directory and set the data accordingly. Quit Registry Editor and Restart Windows

Stalion - thanks for the response, but I've already done this. There was no string for "Download Directory" so I created it entered the drive path and it makes no difference.

I've gone back in multiple times to check the spelling etc. and everything is as all the websites suggest, but no joy.

Any other suggestions appreciated.
