changing broadband ISP

  paradiddle1984 16:41 09 Oct 2005

Hi all, im currently using zen adsl. Im on a 512 connection with unlimited bandwith and static ip and im paying 24.99 a month.

Other than NTL, are there any ISPS that offer the same features for less money?

Im on a bit of a tight budget at the minute and am looking to save money if possible!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Tiscali seem to be offering a good deal.

You have to have a BT phone line though, which I don't have. I am on NTL Cable.

Tiscali will give you 2MB Brodband (unlimited) and AnyTime phone calls for £21.99 or unlimited 2MB for £17.99.

It really is surprising that so many longer term users of BB do not appear either to be taking advantage of such deals or are not being advised by their ISPs that they are available.

they list the speed as upto 2 megs, rather than just 2megs, is this something to do with traffic regulation?

I think the "up to 2mbs" refers to the quality of your telephone line and your distance from the telephone exchange.

The reason is because you cannot get 2MB permanently, only speeds up to that figure - every ISP will state "up to" in its literature to cover itself.
