Changing Administrator Privileges in Win XP Pro.

My wife has taken over as chairman of a voluntary organisation. The computer holds details of members and supporters, accounts etc.

The Dell PC was bought three years ago. It is running Windows XP Pro and was registered to the then secretary. On booting, the name of the ex-secretary appears and requires password input.

The password is known but it is desired to change administration privileges to the organisation , rather than a named individual.

There is no sign of a Win XP installation disk.

Any advice much appreciated.

Click on Control panel
Click on Administrative tools
Click on Computer Management
Expand Local users and groups
Click on Users
In the right hand panel you can now select your user
and change their password user rights etc.

You would be better off just changing the Administrators password for security, but create a new account for your wife with what ever privileges she needs without full admin rights.
