Change Font size in MS Office Word

Hi I have been trying to change the font size in Word MS Office 2003 OS Vista. (set at 10Point)
I have tried going to File, New Document, then Blank doc, OK then Format, Font, change it to 12Point, and then default, and then yes to confirm. but it always goes back to 10 point. when asked to save the doc at the end it gets confusing when I press yes it says it cant.

When you start a new document in Word, it always launches a default template called If you want this template to be set to a default 12pt, then you need to modify

Hi tried the Click but it wont work as its not set up in the same way as suggested.
Tried one other way going Tools, options, File location, but again came unstuck as the suggestions don't follow the rules laid down.
It can be changed but I will leave well alone any one who wants to try click here
I thought it would be an easy fix.
