Change of address problems

Due to the volume of spam that I have been getting, I changed my e-mail address. I think that I have done everyhting correctly, but I am still receiving e-mails using my old address. Can someone tell me step by step what I should do?

Go to your accounts setup & delete your old address, problem solved

Have you set up a link between your old address and your new address?

Not to my knowledge. should I and if so, how do I do this?

Don't connect the addresses as that would mean the new address could pick up mail addressed to the old one.

One thing that I've just thought of though is:-

If your new address is similar to your old address, (e.g. one@mine.com and two@mine.com) spammers would send mail with anything before the @ and it will still come through.

I contacted my ISP and they told me something similar. The person I spoke to has given me instruction to try something tonight when I get home, so hopefully it helps.

I'll let you know the outcome.
