C/Documents and Settings access denied

  eph429 17:48 21 Jan 2014

My Documents and Settings folder is suddenly a shortcut and when I click on it, it says "access denied". I cannot open Chrome (says something about locale not found"...and it seems all my "system files" are short cuts. I tried looking in safe mode if this was a short cut virus but can't find anything. Is there any way to fix this? I am on Windows 7.

Thanks a mill. Janine

Can you access it in Windows Explorer.

Could be the Shortcut Virus, check the steps on click here and also info on click here and see if that sorts it out.

"Documents and settings" is a holdover from XP and does not exist in Windows7. Google "windows7 junction points" and have a read.

Of course Number six is correct for Win 7. It is only there to maintain compatibility with older programs that will look for it and is not actually accessible. Sorry for my silly post earlier, not thinking.
