CD?DVD drive not recognise MS Office XP cd

  fleabag155 16:27 01 Feb 2005

I have a new laptop A Goodmans P50, and am trying to install MS Office XP on it. The disc with MS Publisher has given me no problem. The other disk, with Word, Excel etc will not load. The machine doesn't even recognise there is a cd in the drive. I have tried to access it through 'Run' and also 'Add new Programs' but the cd does not even show up as being in the drive when I check in 'My Computer'

I have tried the cd on another (desktop) pc and it loaded with no trouble at all. I have all the product codes.

The laptop is running XP.

Any advice?

As it's new, I suggest you return it if the disk isn't recognised as being in the drive. I take it that you have a bona-fide disk with Office XP on it (not that this should make any difference to simple detection of presence provided that there's something on it).

Try running a cd lens cleaner through the drive. Then retry the CD.
