CD/DVD Autorun

A friend's PC. Running Win 98SE, Athlon XP 2000, 512mb ram. DVD burner plus DVD player. Both optical drives are set up to "Auto Insert Notification" but when a CD or DVD with Autorun is inserted nothing happens. I have tried one of the DVDs he has on my PC and it works perfectly. My PC is also Athlon XP 2000, 512mb ram Win 98SE and a DVD burner and DVD player. Both PCs are the same because I built them both at the same time.

The only way he can get it to run is Start, Run and select the "index.htm" file and run from there. I don't have to do that.

This should cure the autoplay problem but read the instructions for Win98 carefully click here

BurrWalnut, thanks for that link, but where are the instructions for Win98 that I need to read carefully. I have read it three times now but can't see anything referring to Win 98.

It probably isn't worth doing from my computer anyway because mine is working OK.

It's changed. It doesn't support Win98, sorry about that.

Another thing has just come to light. On my friends computer he has to keep changing to 1024x768 from 800x600. My computer is set to 800x600 and I still get this DVD playing OK with no problems.

Seems like we are all finished on this so I will tick it as resolved and just get him to use Start, Run etc...

Thanks.
