CD Won't Open

  faintly curious 12:57 18 Dec 2003

Hi all - here's a little mystery. My CD drawer refuses to open until the eject button has been pressed many times, but... once a CD is in the drawer it opens without a problem. Can anyone suggest why this happens and how it can be cured (apart from leaving the CD in!).

Right click on the CD rom drive (D:)
select Eject

I'm afraid it's not as simple as that... it will still only open properly when there is a CD in the drawer!.. but thanks for the suggestion.

This may be the little micro-switch which is mechanically activated by the drawer. This is how it knows whether the drawer is open or closed. The small weight of the CD must be enough to make it function correctly.
