CD-RWs now "read only"

  Pinelea 11:37 04 Dec 2006

For months now I've been backing up individual documents and down-loaded subscription magazines on to rewriteable CDs. Over the past couple of weeks this has become impossible; on pasting to a disc, a mid-screen window appears, telling me the files are read only, and no more files can be copied to the disc. None of them are full.

I don't mind starting again with new discs for the folders in question, but how can I be sure it won't happen again? Have I inadvertently set something wrongly?

Suggestions, pleae!

If you're using fully formatted CD-RW disks a large chunk of the 700 MB disc space is taken up with info about what's on the disc.

You will only have about 540 MB that you can use.

To make sure everything is working properly use a new disc and play about with it adding and removing files.
