CD RW stopped working

  J R Best 21:02 04 Mar 2006

I bought a dvd rewriter (at last!) for my main pc. So decided to use the cd writer which i had taken out, and replace the really really old cd -rw in my 2nd pc. (which is a reasonably recent p4). The bios picked it up fine, and the master slave thing was set correctly (its master over a dvd drive). Windows xp saw it fine and installed it. My computer sees it. I put a disk in, it spins up, and then does absolutely nothing. It was working 100% when it was in my main pc yesterday. Its a Lite-on, anyway, any help in getting it going would be appreciated! thanks in advance

its not a writing problem. It just wont read cds full stop, and it was intended to be my primary drive
