My cd rom drive has vanished it is not listed in device manager or my computer, checked connections and downloaded drivers but still no luck. OS Win 98. Any answers. Thanks.
Have you checked the BIOS?If so and it is listed, then try searching for new hardware.Run a scan for viruses. If it is not listed in the BIOS, run an automatic check for drives.
What Do I look for in the BIOS?How do you run an automatic check for drives?Thanksp.s. Have tried in another pc and it worked fine.
Umm, also is it set to slave or master? If it is on the same connection as the HDD then it should be slave. However if it is on its own IDE cable then I use master.Just check the drives on the homepage or Hardware settings in the BIOS. Look for bootable drive: IBM120GB7200 or simalar is your HDD.CDDVDLS could be your CD rom.Just them press enter to do a auto disk scan.More info will be on google.
