Hi All, Anyone know of a way to test cdrom as I can't seem to be able to run any discs from D: I have windows m e on this computer and I am not too familiar with it.

You can see if your d: drive can read files on a cd from dos

Open a command prompt type cd\ (enter)insert a cd into drive and at the flashing c prompt type d: (enter). If you then type dir/p and enter it should then list all the files on that cd if it is working ok.

Change gack to c: prompt and type exit to return to windows

Could be duff, is it visible as a drive in My Computer? If not check the cable connections.
If they are OK try running a head cleaning CD in it. Yeah I know a CD doesn't have a head like a tape or HDD, but you know what I mean.

You could try 'wkey+pause/break' to bring up sys props - device manager to see if all your cd-roms are listed there , if not try to redetect them with refresh button
