When I place a music cd in the cd-rewriter Windows media player does not appear until I manually start itin the props for the drive it is set to ask for choice of action, also it skips tracks. CD's are only 6months old no noticeable scratches and are clean. Running XP Home
Thanks Joe

If you right click and go to properties check to see that autoplay is enabled and regarding the skipping track bit its either needing cleaned or you're needing a new drive

Pearly Gates.
Only info is hotfix for Win Media see WM 828o26.
The tracks all play but not in the order as shown on screen.
My wife has W/media 7.1 with W98 updated from the MS free discs that are available.

Maybe a stupid question, but is it set on shuffle mode? ;-)

If you click on the Help tab on Windows Media Player and then on About, it will tell you which version you have.

There are different WMP versions for Windows XP and earlier versions of Windows such as 98SE - make sure you have the correct version of WMP.
