cd firmware update

some slight problems with my old cd unit, to units on 2nd ide cd unit slave, exactly how do i do this? Execute "update v160D.bin" under real DOS mode. have the 160d zipped file

Jimmer you obviously think that a firmware update will sort this problem you have,however can you post the exact problems you are having.

Can you also post the make and model number of the cd drive.

Have you tried reconnecting the ide cable to the drive or even swapping it around making it master to double check it works ok.

Im assuming xp,this maybe worth a shot click here

found problem to be bad cd-r from a batch just purchases from tesco, thanks for the help anyway

You don't need "firmware" updates for basic optical drives - the standard Windows CDROM driver is all that is required.

This also applies to rewriters unless a specific firmware update is issued to allow a drive to handle some issues.
