Hi, I am trying to create a CD for a pop quiz with intros etc, i.e. not full tracks. is there any free software out there that can be used. I have nero burning software installed but it will not allow me to have short music tracks?

I do exactly what you want to do for my quiz each week, and as skidzy suggests you should use Audacity.
Also you need Mp3 Gain click here to ensure all the tracks are more or less the same volume. If you are ripping from CD for your extracts the volume will vary from one CD to another. Finally you may wish to use ReNamer click here to bulk rename your extracts. Lastly, when you rename the completed Mp3 file use the numerical date format yymmdd (070325) and then all your completed files will show in date order in your music folder.
