Hi just replaced my ageing 12/10/32 cdrw drive
for a new artec wwr 48/12/48 burner.
No probs but it will not let me select a burn
speed of less than 8X, is this normal?
It will read 1x to 48X but only burn from
8X upwards.
I have tried both nero & easy cd creator but still i cant drop below 8X.
I do alot of recording with Cubase & i normally burn my recordings no greater than 4x to keep the quality or has technology moved on and can i now burn audio safely at any speed?
my system:
Amd Athlon XP1800+ cpu
Gigabyte GA 7ZXE mobo with 512meg of ram
Qtec 550 watt psu
Artec 48/12/48 cdrw
16x Dvd Drive
Ibm deskstar 82gig harddrive
creative Ti400 64 meg graphics
creative 1024 live sound card
os. xp pro

cheers simonsup

Does your CD media actually support the higher speed?

hi patr100, I`ve tried a few different brands
of blanks tdk, memorex & sony all of which state
1x to 48x speeds.
Its not the fast speeds that are a problem i cant seem to be able to select anything under 8x

I guess that's just it then - my 48x Philips will only go down to 4x as a minimum.

With the new technology in cd writing software you will be able to burn audio at 75% of full speed. Even disk to disk on the fly.

On your new cdrw this would be around the 32x mark.
