Using Nero,
I can copy cds ok but when I compile a new cd from files it ends up with only about half the sound volume of of file when played normally from the computer. Is this normal or is there an easy solution? Many thanks for any help given.

Your sound card software may have individual volume controls, in addition to the master volume control, for sound from different sources. On my PC, with a SoundBlaster card, it looks a bit like a sound studio mixing desk, with eight or so slider volume controls, mute buttons, and left-right balance controls for inputs and output.

Check that the one that controls the CD-ROM input hasn't been set much lower than the others.

You can change the volume of tracks recorded on your computer with Nero Wave Editor, before you burn them to CD.

You can also "normalise" sound files in Nero. If the sound files are from differenct sources Nero can ajust the volume on each file so as the CD volume level is uniform for each track played.
