Category view missing from Control panel

Hello Forum

Ive been looking for the registry tool to repair the missing Category view in control Panel, but sadly no joy.

If i open Control Panel,im stuck in Classic view. Not a major problem, just annoying.

Ive tried a fix from the Doug Knox site but still no joy.

This has been going on for a while now,and im determined to get it repaired.
I believe it was due to running Ccleaner a while back.
System restore no joy either.

XP Home SP2
All updated and all scans clean.

As usual, all advice welcome and greatly appreciated.

If you go back into control panel, Where catagory view should be, you will see a little arrow pointing down, just click on that and it should show it,

Right ,I dont know what I am talking about here, But you have to do the reverse of what I say, Okay goes like this, Into control panel, Double click folder options, On general tab,Under tasks, Click use Windows Classic Folders, Note choosing this option hides the defaultTask links in left pane of Windows Folders, sutch as My documents, It also makes the Category View in Control panel, Unavailable. If you reverse that , will it get your Category View back,

your a legend, now i had tried that with IE7 and had no joy.
I uninstalled IE7 and didnt think to try that again...and bingo it works.

Thankyou so much...and you DO know what your talking about.
I had to untick use Windows Classic Folders and select Common tasks.

Thanks everyone for the replies and advice.
