I have XP Pro, a couple of different makes of memory card reader/writers, plus an MP3 player that can also double up as one.

All I've ever done is plug each into the system and used the OS drivers.

This is the one I use; no problems at all.

I don`t know about other makes, although I am surprised you have problems. Perhaps you need a driver?.

This review of the SanDisk confirms that XP already has the required USB drivers:

Check from Device Manager>USB Controllers that USB Mass Storage Devices are all stated to be Enabled and working correctly.

If you unplug the SanDisk it should Uninstall the device.

Do a Restart and, as it starts, reconnect the SanDisk.
