I don't really know but wonder if is it anything to do with the 4Gb file size limit in FAT32

.

Do you have a lot of files (documents) in the My Documents Folder? Perhaps you have hit the limit of how many files are permitted in a folder.

Peter.

"Do you have a lot of files (documents) in the My Documents Folder? Perhaps you have hit the limit of how many files are permitted in a folder."

There isn't a limit on how many files you can have in a folder, well there is but the number is enormous, in real life you'd never reach it. There is a 4GB filesize limit when using the FAT32 system but you'd know if that was the problem.

p;3: It's possible the file you are trying to edit is corrupt in some way, try copy and pasting the contents of that file into a new document and moving the problem file out of the My Documents folder, see if it helps.

What happens if you try to edit another file in the My Documents folder, do you get the same error?

Try making another folder and save the document to that. Does that work?

FAT32
"There's no practical limit on the combined sizes of all the files in a folder, though there may be limits on the number of files in a folder."

* Maximum disk size: 2 terabytes
* Maximum file size: 4 gigabytes
* Maximum number of files on disk: 268,435,437
* Maximum number of files in a single folder: 65,534

Thanks for clarifying the number, I knew it was quite a few, lol.

That's 2 to the 16 minus 2. Seems a strange limit but maybe they wanted a list of the files to fit on an Excel sheet with a couple of rows to spare for headers ;o)

if I go to My Computer/c drive / explore/right mouse click on My Documents/properties/size 998650 bytes/used 1015808 bytes

erm...
