Can't view pictures d/l from internet

  dissonance 21:44 29 Jun 2003

I'm using Windows XP and am having trouble viewing pictures saved from the internet. Using either AOL or Internet Explorer, I right click on an image, click 'Save as' and get two options; ART file or Bitmap. Whichever I choose, the file appears on my hard drive as a JPEG, and will not open with:

- Windows Picture and Fax viewer ('no preview available')

- Paint ('this is not a valid bitmap file or its format is not currently supported')

- or Internet Explorer (small cross in top left of page)

I don't think I have any other programs with which to open them. However, I am able to save wallpapers direct to my desktop.

Sorry if I haven't been specific enough, I'm not terribly computer-literate :(

Thanks in advance
