Can't "Send" from Outlook Express

My brother having switched from a dial-up connection (from another ISP) to BT Broadband finds that he is unable to send messages from Outlook Express : receives a message that he should try to re-send from 'Sent Messages' ... when he tries, nothing happens, not even an error message. No problems receiving messages.

Someone has suggested to him that Norton may be the problem, he uses their AV and firewall. The firewall and AV were already in place on his dial-up connection. Any advice on resolving the issue? Anyone encountered similar problems?

Having changed to BT Broadband, all outgoing messages will now have to be sent via BT's SMTP mail server. Has your brother changed the SMTP server setting in Outlook Express?

Note also that BT only allow messages with a BT email address to be sent from their server.

Thanks for th suggestion mgmcc. He had changed his server setting but, meantime, he's just contacted me and, having taken off Norton firewall to replace it with Zone Alarm the problem has disappeared!
