Have had PC for 8 months, and I have never been able to get it to see the burner. DVD ROM is "Master" CD burner is "Slave" have tried alternating this. Both are Liteon products. DVD is seen by windows and works. Burner is powered and spins disc. Have Nero Burn installed and UN a number of times.....HELP

You mention that you have tried alternating the drives, but have you changed the jumpers on the rear of each.

One of your drives needs to be set to master, the second one to slave. J.

Yes, have moved jumpers and drives tried all combinations. Windows detects DVD if disco'd and reintroduced but WILL NOT see the burner.

Although the drive will spin, as you have said, if the problem has been there from the start and changing from slave to master does not cure the problem, then I can only think it's the drive itself that is faulty.

One other thing to think of, when you swap the drives around, try using the different connectors on the IDE cable. If the problem stays with the same drive this will at least eliminate a faulty cable. J.
