Can't run sites that use Java on IE7

  Graham. 16:58 08 Jun 2009

I get 'You have visited a page that contains an applet written with Java technology. Please install the Java Runtime Environment before refreshing this page.'

I download Java Runtime, check all the right boxes are ticked in Tools, still get the same message.

I have to use Firefox for speed tests, etc.

Check in IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced (scroll down) to see if you have Java JRE enabled and if not, enable it and restart.

While you are there turn off Microsoft VM and see if that makes any difference.

Java comes between International and MultiMedia headings.

No, it's not there. As I said, I can run click here, etc., on Firefox, so it's on my machine. It's just missing on IE7.

Somebody on this forum had the same problem a few weeks ago - can't find the thread at the moment, but the solution was to download and install Java Runtime Environment from here click here and it all then worked.

That was despite having downloaded Java several times from another site.

Must be worth a try - it only takes a few minutes.

Thanks, downloaded latest version from your link, restarted IE, still no joy.

If you go to this page on the Java site click here there are some suggestions on how to install the latest version of Java (6_13, I think), on your Windows machine as well as others, of course.
